Antimicrobial textiles are functionally active textiles, which may kill the microorganisms or inhibit their growth.

These antimicrobial textiles are used in a variety of applications ranging from households to commercial including air filters, food packaging, health care, hygiene, medical, sportswear, storage, ventilation and water purification systems.

Public awareness on antimicrobial textiles and growth in commercial opportunities has been observed during past few years.

Not only antimicrobial properties, but its durability along with the color, prints and designing are also important for fashionable clothing; thus, many commercial brands are now focusing on such type of materials.

2. Introduction of TechNa-Cotton

Permanent Zinc anti-bacterial cotton yarn

TechNa-Cotton is a permanent Zinc antimicrobial cotton yarn by Hikingtex, a combination of nature and technology.

a. Anti-bacterial & Anti-virus

Bacteria are negatively-charged and Zinc ions are positively-charged, so Zinc will be absorbed on the surface of bacteria, then electrolyte balance of bacteria are broken, finally bacteria will die due to cell walls’ damage.

TechNa-Cotton can inhibit echerichia coli, candida albicans and staphylococcus aureus effectively.

b. Permanent and Safe

The Zinc is put in cotton through displacement reaction, it won’t drop from the surface of fabric.

c. Deodorization

Zinc can remove body odor and keep skin clean.

3. Benefits of antimicrobial fabrics with TechNa-Cotton

a. Antimicrobial Textiles Stay Cleaner and Fresher Longer

Antimicrobial technology adds a durable defense barrier on fabric, which helps fight odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew. This makes a product with antimicrobial fabric stay fresher longer so you can wear it with confidence. This lasting, continual protection against potentially harmful microbes lasts wash after wash.

b. Antimicrobial Fabrics Require Fewer Washes

Antimicrobial fabric stays cleaner for longer. If a towel stinks less, you will wash it less because it maintains that “just laundered” feeling. Adding antimicrobial product protection reduces the growth of odor causing microbes that remain on your clothes even after washing.

c. Antimicrobial Fabrics Keep Textiles Smelling Better

Sweat is a universal problem. When you sweat, the bacteria on your skin consumes the nutrients in your sweat and breaks it down, producing odor. Antimicrobial fabric inhibits the growth of unpleasant odors before they start on the garments by controlling bacterial growth.

d. Antimicrobial Fabrics Generate Longer Product Life

Bacteria and fungi can degrade textiles in many ways. Repeated washing also negatively affects the lifecycle and speeds up degradation. When laundering a product less because it is made with antimicrobial fabric, you extend the life of the product.

4. Test report of TechNa-Cotton

It will still work after 50 times washing.
